Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Beijing — High-Speed Rail into the Mountains

  • Meals: Dinner
  • Overnight: Chongli, ski-in/ski-out Olympic resort hotel

Arrive at Beijing Capital (PEK) or Daxing (PKX) International Airport; private transfer to the station; approx. 50–60-minute train to Taizicheng; 10–20-minute transfer to the resort.

  • Your guide greets you on arrival and accompanies you to the station for the Olympic high-speed train climbing into the Yanshan Mountains.
  • Arrive at Taizicheng Station, the purpose-built rail hub at the center of the 2022 competition zone, and transfer to your ski-in/ski-out hotel in the Thaiwoo ski village.
  • After checking in, collect your fitted rental equipment and pre-arranged lift passes, then take an easy orientation walk through the resort.
  • If you arrive with time and energy, enjoy gentle first runs or an evening night-skiing session under the lights.
  • Welcome dinner: Inner Mongolian–style lamb hot pot or northern dumplings in the village, followed by a stroll along the lantern-lit pedestrian streets.

Day 2 | Full Ski Day at Thaiwoo

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Overnight: Chongli, ski-in/ski-out Olympic resort hotel

Full skiing day; optional private lesson.

  • Full day: Ski at Thaiwoo, the most versatile of Chongli's resorts, which hosted several freestyle and snowboard events in 2022. More than 20 kilometers of trails span every ability — wide beginner slopes and confident-learning groomers for first-timers, varied cruising runs for intermediates, and challenging black diamonds for stronger skiers and riders. Modern high-speed lifts keep you moving, and the forested upper mountain opens into panoramic views.
  • This is the ideal day for a private lesson with a certified English-speaking instructor — whether you are putting on skis for the first time or refining carved turns and freestyle basics.
  • Break for a relaxed mountain lunch, then ski until the lifts close.
  • Evening: Enjoy the village at an easy pace: a hot soak, a warm dinner, or more night skiing.

Day 3 | Olympic Legacy Day at Genting Snow Park

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Overnight: Chongli, ski-in/ski-out Olympic resort hotel

Short transfer between resorts; full skiing day.

  • Full day: Ski at Genting Snow Park (Secret Garden), a core Beijing 2022 venue that hosted the freestyle skiing and snowboard competitions. Its wide, impeccably groomed runs, Olympic halfpipe and terrain parks welcome everyone from beginners to advanced riders. High-speed gondolas — including China's only resort-wide fleet of heated-seat lifts — carry you quickly and comfortably uphill.
  • Take a mountain lunch with sweeping views over the snow-covered peaks, and watch for talented local riders training on the Olympic courses.
  • On the way back, pass the striking "Snow Ruyi" National Ski Jumping Centre, its sweeping ribbon-like tower one of the icons of the Games.
  • Dinner: Celebrate your final ski evening with a festive mountain feast. Those with energy to burn can return for one last night-skiing session.

Day 4 | Final Morning Runs — Return to Beijing & Departure

  • Meals: Breakfast

Morning skiing; approx. 50–60-minute high-speed train Taizicheng → Beijing; private transfer to the airport.

  • Morning: Enjoy a final morning on the mountain — first lifts, fresh corduroy and clear mountain light — or take it easier with a leisurely breakfast and a spa hour before returning the equipment.
  • After checking out, transfer to Taizicheng Station for the midday bullet train back to Beijing, then continue by private car to the airport for your onward flight.
  • We recommend scheduling a departure at 5:00 PM or later for a relaxed last morning and the rail transfer. Guests who want an extra ski day can add a fourth night and a day at Wanlong for natural powder and the area's biggest vertical.

Three nights, two Olympic mountains, and some of the finest groomed skiing in Asia — the kind of short, effortless ski week that makes you want to book next year's trip before you even leave.

What to Know

  • UNESCO designation: Chongli and its ski resorts are not UNESCO World Heritage Sites; their distinction is as the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic competition zone. This is a pure ski holiday; if you wish to add Beijing's genuine World Heritage sights (the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven), see our combined Beijing & Chongli itinerary.
  • Season and timing: Chongli's ski season runs roughly from mid/late November through mid-March; Wanlong sometimes opens as early as late October and can run into early April, with exact dates announced each season. The most reliable snow and full facilities run from late December through February. Chinese New Year (January/February) and school holidays are extremely crowded and peak-priced — book well ahead; January and March weekdays offer the best value and quietest slopes.
  • Resort selection: Thaiwoo is the best all-rounder (biggest variety, lively village, all levels); Genting excels at Olympic legacy, groomed cruising and terrain parks; Wanlong suits strong and expert skiers seeking natural powder and the area's biggest vertical (about 550 m), and can be added or substituted on request. All resorts provide dedicated beginner zones and magic carpets.
  • Lift passes and rentals: A full-day lift pass runs roughly RMB 300–800 depending on resort and date; complete ski or snowboard rental costs about RMB 100–300 per day. Private lessons are not included by default and cost approximately RMB 600–1,200 per hour with an English-speaking instructor; please ask us to reserve one.
  • Cold-weather preparedness: Chongli is genuinely cold, windy and high-altitude (around 1,500–2,000 m). Bring or rent a waterproof insulated jacket and pants, thermal base layers, a fleece mid-layer, warm ski socks, insulated waterproof gloves or mittens, and proper ski goggles. Use a neck gaiter rather than a scarf, which can catch on lifts. Sunscreen and lip balm matter at altitude and on bright snow.
  • Non-skiers: Companions who do not ski can enjoy the resort village, spa, snow tubing, scenic gondola rides, cafés and Olympic landmarks, with a relaxed daily program.
  • Summer alternative: Between roughly June and September there is no skiing; Chongli becomes a cool mountain retreat (average summer temperature about 18°C / 65°F) for hiking, mountain biking, golf and forest scenery. We can build a summer mountain version on request.
  • Getting there: All guests fly into Beijing (PEK or PKX); the Olympic high-speed train to Taizicheng takes about one hour, and direct road transfers take roughly 2.5–3 hours. We use the railway for comfort and reliability. Your passport is required for train tickets and resort check-in.
  • Extending your trip: Add days in Beijing for culture and the Great Wall, or continue elsewhere in China by air or rail. Expert skiers often extend with a day at Wanlong; families can add extra snow-play time at the resort.
